Barn Raising – The MegaDome® Way

ABBOTSFORD, BRITISH COLUMBIA—One Day to erect MegaDome® for Composting Working Hall

Avina-Delfresh, a long established mushroom farm in Abbotsford BC, is constructing a new mushroom composting facility to supply quality substrate for its mushroom growing operations. The Phase 1 Compost facility features 4 compost bunkers which are serviced by a spacious Working Hall for receiving, mixing and filling processes.

A 100-foot wide MegaDome® was installed on 24-foot high tilt-up concrete walls, clear-spanning the overhead filling unit, crane, hoppers and mobile equipment. For premium corrosion protection MegaDome’s exclusive HotDip+ finish option was selected which joins hot-dip galvanized and stainless steel components with zinc-nickel alloy fasteners. A durable translucent polyethylene membrane covering will be installed over the MegaDome® frame, for a naturally lit work environment and reduced energy costs.

A twelve-hour day saw the completion of the MegaDome® frame erection, just like in the old-barn raising days.
